Achievements
James P McGee from Ballyfoley in County Donegal Ireland is one of the industry’s best sheep dog trainers. He won the 2011 World Sheep Dog trials with his dog Becca. Sheep farmer James and eight-year-old Becca are among the best-known and most successful trialists on the sheep dog circuit in recent years, having secured countless accolades, among them two Irish Nationals and high placings in International Trials.
Becca was bred to James dog Sid, and is the mother of his dog Glencregg Silver. Silver is also a very accomplished dog, having won the International Supreme at the age of 17 months. He has gone on to win many major trials.
From his home in the hills of Donegal, James is teaching people about the art of sheepdog training throughout Ireland and the wider world. His new online sheepdog training program, aims to make people more proficient and gain experience in training their own dogs.
The renowned champion sheepdog breeder and trainer launched the program at the beginning of May and says that he has been “overwhelmed by the response”.
The full-time farmer breeds sheepdogs under the Glencregg prefix and farms a 500-ewe flock and a herd of suckler cows with his wife, Karen, and three children: Rachel, Laura, and James, in the heart of Co. Donegal.
