Joni Tietjen
Achievements
Joni and her husband ranch in north central Wyoming raising approximately 800 mother cows. Joni began training dogs in 1990. She has had a great career training dogs for trial and practical work. Joni takes great pride in being able to work her dogs on the ranch and run them in the biggest and best cattle and sheep trials successfully.
Joni has qualified for USBCHA sheep dog finals every year and been in the top 10 National open and nursery finals with numerous dogs. Joni and her dog Ben were the first to capture the National Nursery Championship in consecutive years, 2016-2017.
She has also been Reserve Champion at Meeker, Soldier Hollow, and has finished in the top 5 at Kingston and the Bluegrass.
Joni has fairly recently turned to cattledog trials and is enjoying success there as well, winning Reserve Champion in the USBCHA Cattledog final 2021 and was then crowned MSSA Ultimate Stockdog Champion in 2021.
“What I love the most is taking these young dogs and helping them achieve their best and then seeing them go on to be successful with their new handlers,” said Joni.
