A golf course manager with a nuisance geese problem back in the 80s found her solution with Rebecca Gibson and her business Flyaway Geese! Having sparked the idea to use border collies, the golf superintendent had Rebecca train a team of dogs to keep the geese off the course. Since then Flyaway Geese now specialize in doing that on golf courses, airports, military installations and the like, in humane and effective professional bird management.
A pioneer and leading expert in the field of what are now termed “Goosedogs”, Rebecca was nominated for “Small Business Person of the Year” in 2001, is the current acting President of The North American Goosedog Association and been endorsed by PGA Radio, PETA, ABC World News, and the Golf Course Superintendent Association (GCSAA) and Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for her efforts in protecting and humanly moving wildlife off populated areas.
DTO sat down with Rebecca recently to learn all about her fascinating business and how she trains and breeds border collies for bird management. You can learn more about Rebecca and her business here www.flyawaygeese.com
